Key Responsibilities

As a Quantitative Trader specializing in Power Markets, you will play a pivotal role in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where your analytical skills, mathematical expertise, and market insights will be harnessed to optimize trading strategies and maximize profitability. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing market data, developing algorithmic trading models, and executing trades to capitalize on pricing inefficiencies and market trends within the power markets. More precisely, your responsibilities will include:

  • Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of power market data, including supply and demand fundamentals, regulatory changes, weather patterns, and geopolitical factors, to identify trading opportunities.
  • Algorithm Development: Utilize quantitative models and statistical tools to develop proprietary trading algorithms that exploit market inefficiencies and generate consistent profits.
  • Risk Management: Implement risk management strategies to safeguard the trading portfolio, including position limits, and stress testing.
  • Execution: Execute trades with precision and efficiency, utilizing automated trading systems and real-time data feeds to capture profitable opportunities in the power markets.
  • Model Enhancement: Continuously refine and enhance trading models through backtesting, data analysis, and optimization techniques to adapt to evolving market conditions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining a strong adherence to compliance policies and procedures.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports and insights to senior management, detailing trading performance, risk metrics, and market trends.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance trading strategies and technological infrastructure.

Qualifications and Requirements

As a candidate, we expect that you:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, mathematics-economics, statistics, physics, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Have strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret complex data and make informed trading decisions.
  • Have proficiency in programming languages such as Python and VBA. Experience with R, API, or C# is an advantage.
  • Can identify trading opportunities based on analysis and risk assessment.
  • Have a deep understanding and interest in financial and energy markets.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills, can pay close attention to detail, and adapt to evolving marketing conditions.
  • Have strong communication skills to present complex concepts to both technical and non- technical stakeholders.
