Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be a part of the Day-Ahead team which is responsible for assessing market data, and executing trades to capitalize on pricing inefficiencies and market trends within the Day-Ahead power markets. More precisely, your responsibilities will include:

  • Trading: Participate in daily auctions in the power markets to execute trading strategies and be present when opportunities arise. Be comfortable using trading platforms and software.
  • Market Analysis: Perform ad-hoc analysis of the power markets fundamentals and prices to identify opportunities.
  • Fundamentals: Be on top of power fundamental data, weather forecasts and current status of the international power grid in order to make well-informed decisions and minimize surprises.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of the trading activities for bookkeeping and evaluation.
  • Communication: Collaborate with traders to align strategies, give updates on market insights and handover reports to the Intraday team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and constantly evaluate and optimize current processes.

Qualifications and Requirements

As a candidate, we expect that you:

  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics-economics, economics, statistics, or similar.
  • Have strong quantitative and analytical skills to interpret complex data and make informed trading decisions.
  • Can identify trading opportunities based on analysis and risk assessment.
  • Have a deep understanding and interest in financial and energy markets.
  • Be interested in a trading role and not afraid to take risks.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills, can pay close attention to detail, and adapt to evolving marketing conditions.
  • Have strong communication skills to present complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Proficiency in a programming language and Excel is an advantage.
