Life in the fast lane: Work on a trading floor
The first half-hour of a trading day is typically about gathering information, getting an overview, taking an informed view on the market, and co-formulating an overall trading strategy for the trading-shift.
Now it’s a waiting game, with one eye on the market and the other on the fundamentals, watching for trading opportunities based on your trading plans, experience, intuition, and current market activity. Precision and timing are everything. Once an opportunity arises, you must act quickly to identify the setup and pounce on the trade—seconds can make the difference between a winning and a losing trade.
When money is on the line, it’s hard to avoid feeling a tinge of fear with every minute you’re in the trade. However, since you enjoy the thought of winning and feel excited and energized by a win, you can stay calm and read the market accurately even under hectic conditions.
As you will be trading intraday – the shortest time frame possible – you will be working with tight deadlines in a buzzing market. Thus, your ability to make quick decisions on your own and collaborate closely within a team is of utmost importance.
When starting this position, relevant training will be provided to enhance your skills as a trader and give you deeper insights into the financial and energy markets. Furthermore, you will gain knowledge about different trading strategies, techniques, and platforms from an experienced trader who will also provide guidance and support.
